The website FreeRoss.org has changed its look and has recently added a never before seen 2-minute film of Ross Ulbricht at his home in Austin. The defense of Ulbricht has recently appealed the double life sentence given to the Silk Road creator. The 170-page motion shows that there was significant corruption in the investigation, and it claims Ross did not receive a fair trial. After a bail hearing on the 21st of November, the court decided to not grant Ulbricht bail. Ulbricht's lawyer, Joshua Dratel set before the court the proposition to grant $1 million bail to Ulbricht (an amount pledged by Ulbricht's family and friends). The court decided this wasn't the way to go, particularly after hearing the Manhattan federal prosecutor's case that Ulbricht would try to flee the United States before it was time for his trial. Friends and family of Ross Ulbricht have raised more than $1m to pledge as bail money for the release of the alleged Silk Road owner. The 29-year-old was arrested in early October and the FBI closed down the online black market, which was hosted on the so-called 'dark web' and was used to buy and sell drugs, weapons and other illegal goods and services. A letter, dated 19th November, from Ulbricht's defence attorney Joshua Dratel asks Southern District of New York judge Kevin Fox to grant Ulbricht bail at his upcoming hearing, which is scheduled for 21st November at 11:00 ET.
