Judge Denies Retrial in Silk Road Case

Despite evidence which has surfaced since the first of Ross Ulbricht's two trials was concluded, a federal judge in New York has denied Ulbricht's attorneys requests for a retrial. Judge Katherine Forrest felt that Ulbricht's guilt was overwhelmingly proven by the prosecutors and that a retrial is unnecessary, apparently considering the actions of DEA Agent Force, who prosecutors now say knowingly laundered bitcoins through BitStamp among other crimes, unrelated. The convicted Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht is currently seeking a retrial based on the assumption that he was denied his fifth amendment right.
