Accused Silk Road mastermind Ross Ulbricht has been found guilty on all charges on the first day of jury deliberations. Ulbricht, alleged by the US government to be the so-called Dread Pirate Roberts behind the now-defunct online black marketplace, was ruled guilty on a total of seven charges, which include narcotics trafficking on the Internet, conspiracy to commit money laundering and computer hacking. The Bitcoin Photo Contest, a bit4coin-sponsored initiative to improve bitcoin's image and expand bitcoin's graphic representation, moves into its next phase this week as the regular voting phase ends on Oct. 15 and 50 images go to a jury for the final vote. Following the conclusion of the trial of Ross Ulbricht, the government revealed what the Ulbricht's defense had already known (but was barred from discussing during the trial), that two of the US government agents who gathered much of the evidence that convicted Ulbricht, the Secret Service's Shaun Bridges and the DEA's Carl Mark Force IV, were being indicted for stealing a great deal of Ulbricht's horde of bitcoins. A Connecticut Jury has found that digital assets linked to cryptocurrencies are not securities in what a defense lawyer called a world-first verdict.
